Men’s Soccer Falls To Staten Island, 2-1

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2009)The Maritime men's soccer team lost to the College of Staten Island, 2-1 today on the road. With the loss, the Privateers fall to 6-2 on the season, while the Dolphins improve to 2-9.

 

CSI got on the board first late in the opening half and then added its second tally of the game with 20 minutes remaining in the second half.

 

Looking to rally, senior James Salka scored for Maritime  off a corner kick by sophomore Jason Tursi to bring them back to within one with just over seven minutes left to play. Staten Island would maintain the advantage, however, and time ran out for the Privateers.

 

The men's soccer team will return to action on Wednesday night, when it travels to Farmingdale State in a Skyline Conference match. Kickoff between the Privateers and the Rams is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Farmingdale's Rams Field. Live stats for that game are available by clicking here.
