Alagoz Earns Skyline Men’s Soccer Rookie Of The Week Honors For The Second Week

THROGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 14, 2009) – On Monday, the Skyline Conference named first-year sophomore Cesur Alagoz (Istanbul, Turkey/Ching Deru) the conference Rookie of the Week for the second week in a row for his efforts in helping Maritime to a 5-2 win over The City College of New York on Friday, Sept 11.
 
            In the victory, Alagoz notched the game-winning tally and picked up assists on two other goals. With game tied 2-2, in the 65th minute, Alagoz blasted a free kick from 45 yards out into the net after it bounced off of the crossbar. The Turkish forward then assisted on teammate Arthur Melody (East Fishkill, N.Y./John Jay)'stally in 76th minute.
 
            Alagoz currently leads the Skyline with 5.00 points per game, while his one assists currently ties him for second in the conference with 1.00 per game. Blunden is tied for first in the Skyline with one game-winning goal. In net, junior keeper Harris Papson (Flushing, N.Y./Francis Lewis) leads all goalies with a perfect 0.00 goals against average.
 
            The men's soccer team returns to action Saturday, Sept. 19, when the men will play host to Lehman College at 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
