THROGGS NECK, NY – Maritime College Head Football Coach
Anthony Trotta has announced the remainder of his coaching staff. Four members of the 2024 New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Coaching Staff of the Year have been retained, while two-time First Team All-NEWMAC performer
Luke Caliendo transitions from player to coach. The staff is rounded out by four additional assistant coaches.
Returning from last year's coaching staff are
Jason Calman, Andrew Lalama, Tom Lindley and
William Crean. Calman, who worked with the linebackers last season, moves to the offensive side of the ball, where he will coach the offensive line while also serving as Run Game Coordinator. In addition, Calman is the Privateers' Recruiting Coordinator. Lalama is switching sides of the ball, as well. After working with the wide receivers last season, he's now Maritime's Safeties Coach. Lindley and Crean will continue in their previous roles as Defensive Line Coach (Lindley) and Assistant Defensive Line Coach (Crean), with Lindley adding Special Teams Coordinator to his responsibilities.
Domenic Isabell, who worked alongside Coach Trotta at Union, joins the Privateers' staff as Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach. Fellow newcomers
Connor Mooney (Wide Receivers) and
Ryan Soules (Running Backs) will also coach the offense. Caliendo, who received his two all-conference nods as a wide receiver, will mentor the tight ends during his first season on the coaching staff.
On defense, Trotta will handle play-calling duties.
Quincy Banks, meanwhile, has been added to the defensive coaching staff as Maritime's Cornerbacks Coach. Banks is a graduate of Wilkes University, where he played under Trotta.
"I am excited to announce this group of coaches who are dedicated to building a culture of toughness, integrity, discipline, accountability and love," Trotta said. "Each of them brings unique experience and a commitment to developing our student-athletes both on and off the field. Together, we look forward to preparing this team for an exciting season."
The Privateers begin the 2025 campaign with the annual Chowder Bowl at Mass Maritime on Sept. 5. Maritime's home opener is scheduled for Sept. 13 against Anderson.
