All-America Teams: D3baseball.com | ABCA/Rawlings
THROGGS NECK, NY – After a season in which he rewrote the Maritime College baseball record book,
Freddy Forgione (Ronkonkoma, NY) has made more program history. He was named First Team All-American by D3baseball.com, becoming the first Privateer ever to receive that honor. Forgione was also selected to the ABCA/Rawlings All-America Second Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
"There aren't enough words to describe what Freddy has meant to our program over the last four years," Head Coach
Charlie Barbieri said. "Since he first stepped on campus, he's been a difference-maker in our lineup, and he's helped elevate our program in so many ways. It's exciting to see him earn the national recognition he so rightfully deserves."
Forgione is currently tied for second nationally with 21 home runs. He set the single-season program record for homers, and he equaled the single-game mark by going deep three times at Lehman on April 24. His seven RBIs in that contest were the highest single-game total in school history. Forgione also established new single-season program standards with 62 RBIs and 54 runs scored in 2024. In addition, he paced the Skyline Conference in doubles (15) and slugging percentage (.885), and he was one of four players in the league to record at least 60 hits.
The Skyline Conference Player of the Year, Forgione was recognized as the ABCA/Rawlings Region 3 Player of the Year earlier this week. He's the first athlete in Maritime history to be selected as a First Team All-American in an NCAA sport. (Gary Jobson was a two-time College Sailor of the Year while at Maritime.)
Alex Bardi (Wantagh, NY), meanwhile, was recognized as a Fifth Team All-American by D3baseball.com. Maritime's designated hitter was a First Team All-Skyline selection after leading the team with a .400 batting average. His 12 home runs were second-most in the conference, trailing only Forgione, and he finished third in the league (behind teammates Forgione and
Anthony Madigan) with 47 RBIs. Bardi also contributed 12 doubles and 10 stolen bases.
"I couldn't be happier and prouder for Alex," Barbieri said. "He had an incredible first season for us, hitting in the middle of a record-breaking lineup. He was the anchor all year and came through with big hits game after game. Alex is a true student of the game and has a bright future ahead of him!"
This marked the 17
th consecutive season in which D3baseball.com has chosen All-America Teams. The ABCA/Rawlings All-America Team dates back to 1949, with a separate Division III squad first recognized in 1976.
