THROGGS NECK, NY – The 2024 D3baseball.com All-Region Teams have been announced, and three members of the Maritime College baseball team were named to the squad.  Third baseman Freddy Forgione (Ronkonkoma, NY) received his second straight First Team All-Region nod, while designated hitter Alex Bardi (Wantagh, NY) also earned First Team All-Region honors.  Outfielder Anthony Madigan (Greenlawn, NY) was selected Second Team All-Region.

Forgione, who was a Second Team All-Region choice in 2022, set a program record with 21 home runs this season.  The Skyline Conference Player of the Year led the league in home runs, as well as RBIs (62) and runs scored (54), all of which were single-season school records.  He's currently tied for second nationally in home runs and finished his career as Maritime's all-time leader with 44 long balls.  In addition, Forgione had a conference-high 15 doubles and was one of four Skyline players with at least 60 hits in 2024.

Bardi hit 12 home runs this season to rank second in the conference behind his teammate.  He led the Privateers with a .400 batting average and finished third in the league with 47 RBIs.  Bardi, who belted a three-run, walk-off homer to beat Merchant Marine on April 20, also tallied 12 doubles and 10 stolen bases this season.

Madigan led the league with a school-record 69 hits.  He also finished second behind Forgione in runs scored (52) and RBIs (49).  Madigan put together a .390 batting average and stole 13 bases to go along with eight home runs and 13 doubles.  He finished a triple short of the cycle in the second game of a doubleheader with Purchase on April 29, going 5-for-5 with a homer and two doubles in the contest.

This is the second different All-Region selection for all three players this season.  On Tuesday, Forgione was honored as the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Regional Player of the Year while also being named First Team All-Region.  Bardi was an ABCA/Rawlings First Team All-Region choice, and Madigan received ABCA/Rawlings Second Team All-Region accolades.

D3baseball.com has been selecting an All-Region Team in each of 10 different regions for the past 12 seasons.  Players are nominated by their school's Sports Information Director, with the D3baseball.com staff and contributors then choosing the three All-Region squads per region.
