THROGGS NECK, NY – Two Maritime College football players have been recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) with Second Team All-ECAC selections.
Steven Stassi (East Islip, NY) was chosen at quarterback, while
Vinny Fundaro (Levittown, NY) earned a Second Team All-ECAC nod on the defensive line. It's each of their first career All-ECAC honor.
Stassi set a program record with 30 touchdown passes this season. His 215 completions were also a school record, and his 2,247 passing yards were the third-most for a single season in program history. Stassi threw five touchdown passes in a game twice and had only five interceptions all year. In addition, he gained 132 yards on the ground. Stassi was named First Team All-NEWMAC (New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference) this season.
Fundaro also received First Team All-NEWMAC honors in 2024. He recorded six sicks, which ranked second in the league. Fundaro had 12.5 tackles for loss, which cost Maritime's opponents 72 yards of field position. He added six quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
The ECAC was established in 1938 and includes more than 200 member schools across all three NCAA divisions. Maritime's last All-ECAC selection was
