THROGGS NECK, NY – Sophomore wide receiver
Ian Derda (Guilford, CT) of the Maritime College football team has added another honor to his record-setting 2022 season. Derda, who was previously named to the All-Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) First Team and D3football.com All-Region Third Team, has been selected Second Team All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).
Derda set single-season program records with 66 receptions, 1104 receiving yards and 1731 all-purpose yards in 2022. His 173.10 all-purpose yards per game ranked sixth nationally, while Derda also placed ninth in the nation with 110.40 receiving yards per game. In addition, he was 12
th overall among Division III players in receiving yards. Also Maritime's primary kick returner, Derda tallied 618 yards on 27 returns this season, an average of 22.89 per return.
In Maritime's 10 games this season, he finished with 100 or more receiving yards seven times, including a career-high 163 yards in the win over Dean on Oct. 29. Derda had a 69-yard touchdown reception in that game, one of his six scores on the year. He caught the game-winning touchdown pass with 3:15 remaining in the 17-14 home victory against Mass. Maritime on Sept. 9.
Established in 1938, the ECAC includes more than 200 members across all three divisions. Derda is the first Privateer to receive All-ECAC honors since Liam Bailey and
Joseph Gagliardi earned First Team nods in 2019.
