The Maritime College men's basketball team came up short in its Skyline Conference road contest against Mount St. Mary College Knights by a score of 71-42. With the conclusion of today's game, the Privateers close its 2018-19 seasons road slate. As the away team, the Privateers saw much success in Skyline Conference play as they picked up three victories.

Against one of the top teams in the Skyline, the Privateers perimeter defense was on full display in the first half, as the Knights did not connect on any of their three-point attempts. The Privateers also totaled seven takeaways in the first 20 minutes of play, as they bested the Knights six. The Knights, however, picked up 14 of its first half points by way of the charity stripe. In the second frame the Knights scoring picked up, as they shot 48.4 percent on their shot attempts.
 
In a game against one of its toughest competitors, the Privateers saw contributions throughout its whole lineup, as nine Privateers were in the scoring column. Brendan McGovern (Seaford, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) who added eight points on the afternoon led the Privateers on offense. Behind McGovern, Alec Downes (Seaford, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) added seven points while Brennan Whelen, and Husene Camara (Bronx, N.Y./Frederick Douglas) added six each. In his first career start, Camara contributed in multiple ways as he added three steals, and totaled seven rebounds.

Maritime concludes its season as they return to Riesenberg Gymnasium this Tuesday to face Sarah Lawrence at 7:00 P.M, where they will honor lone senior, Michael Walker (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) for senior night.
