SUNY Maritime

2019-20: Played in all 25 games for the Privateers and started in three of them, averaging 9.8 minutes per game. Finished the season with 65 points, and continued his great free throw shooting as he brought his career average to 82.1 percent. He also continued his dominance against Skyline Conference foe Purchase College as he matched his career high of 14 points on 5-6 shooting from the field and 4-5 from behind the arc.

2018-19: Played in 22 games and started in six of them during his freshman campaign, averaging 15.9 minutes per game. Shot 37.6 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from behind the arc en route to a 107 point season. His first double-digit scoring performance of the year came in a conference matchup against Purchase College where he dropped 10 points. Later in the season, he went to score a season-high 14 points in the team's second matchup against the Panthers.

High School: Graduated from St. John the Baptist High School in West Islip, New York in 2018…played two seasons of varsity basketball for the Cougars…was selected as Team Most Valuable Player and was an All-County Selection as a senior as he averaged 18 points per game.
 
Personal: Son of Joanne and Kurt Downes…has a younger brother; Ryan…majoring in International Transportation and Trade while at Maritime.
