The Maritime College women's swimming and diving team couldn't pick up a win its final regular season meet on Wednesday night against Division II opponent, Queens College.
The Privateers opened up the night with a second place and third place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Anna Curran (Shelton, Conn./Shelton),
Bethany Champlin (Bronx, N.Y./Saint Vincent),
Alice Limanova (Lake Hiawatha, NJ/Parsippany) and
Catherine Teige (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Our Lady of Good Counsel)Â clocked in at 2:28.03 to earn four points for Maritime.
In the following event,
Emily Zink (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport)Â touched the wall in the third place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 13:12.18.
Katia Aaron (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) was next up for the Privateers and came up with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a solid time of 2:13.44.
Samantha Brow (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) then kept up the solid racing from Maritime as she finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 28.31. In the final event before diving, Aaron,
Emma Haedrich (West Islip, NY/West Islip), and Champlin finished second, third, and fourth, respectively, in the 200-yard IM.
Macy Blakeley (Falls Church, Va./George C. Marshall)Â added another solid performance to her diving season as she scored a 148.45 in the one-meter diving event.
Coming out of the break, Zink and
Erica Davis (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) finished second and third, respectively, in the 100-yard butterfly. Brow followed it up with a time of 1:01.14 in the 100-yard freestyle. In the final event of the meet, the team of Zink, Teige, Davis, and Aaron put together a great 200-yard freestyle relay race but came up less than a second short of a first-place finish with a time of 1:55.82.
Next up for the Privateers is the Metropolitan Championships at the Rutgers Aquatic Center from Febuary 22 to 24.
