WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – The Maritime men's and women's rowing teams competed in the Philadelphia Frostbite Regatta on Mercer Lake in Southern New Jersey on Saturday afternoon. The Privateers had seven entries in six events and fared well with four top-two finishes in their respective races.

The women's team got the day started on Saturday as the novice four took to the water. Sophomores
Anneliese Selheim (Castle Rock, Colo./East Meadow (N.Y.)) and
TinaMarie Haskell (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Clarkstown North) paired up with freshmen
Haleigh Sammons (Fort Plain, N.Y./Fort Plain) and
Gabriella Franco (East Setauket, N.Y./St. Anthony's) finished first in their individual race and posted a time of 8:31.400, which was the fifth best time amongst the field of 14 total entries.

The men's novice four was up next and also saw the freshmen quartet win in their individual race with a time of 7:23.600. Freshman
John Woods (Worcester, Mass./St. John's),
Zach Woolley (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie),
Adam Durrua (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Beach), and
Declan Conway (Ephratah, N.Y./Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs) were joined by sophomore coxswain
Christopher Chilelli (Bordentown N.J./Bordentown Regional) for the finish.

In the women's collegiate four, it was once again the quartet of Selheim, Haskell, Sammons and Franco along with freshman coxswain
Madison Burbol (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) to give Maritime a fourth place finish in their race with a time of 8:42.00, just over six seconds out of a top-three finish.

The men's collegiate fours were up next, as Maritime had a pair of entries in the event. In the second heat, the Privateers recorded a time of 7:39.200 and finished third as senior
Jeffrey Burgess (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota Military Academy), juniors
Quinlan McLoughlin (Valhalla, N.Y./Valhalla) and
Trevor Belson (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) along with sophomore
Alex Miller (Centreville, Va./Westfield) paced the team to the finish.

Maritime's second entry in the event was featured in the fourth heat and also finished in second place with a time of 7:10.600, as the senior foursome of seniors
Declan Albert (Danville, Ken./Canisius (N.Y.)),
Michael Kane Jr. (Lewes, Del./Salesianum),
Corey Toscano (Union Vale, N.Y./Our Lady Of Lourdes) and
Liam Gagliano (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) were just about 20 seconds off the pace behind the University of Rhode Island.

The women's novice eight picked up the win in their race, with Sammons, Franco, Haskell, and Selheim, teaming up with freshmen
Gabrielle Lindstrom (),
Jennifer Buchner (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River),
Elizabeth Payne (Cape May, N.J./Cape May Technical), and
Arina Suprunova (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) with Burbol once again as the coxswain. The octet beat out the University of Scranton by four seconds as the Privateers registered an 8:20.750.

Saturday afternoon for the Privateers concluded with the men's varsity eights, as the Privateers took part in the second heat and tallied a time of 6:53.800 for a fifth place finish. Senior
Rachel DeFroda (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) once again led the varsity team as coxswain as she led Toscano, Albert, McLoughlin, Woolley, Miller, Burgess, Kane, and Gagliano to its position.
