SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Maritime men's and women's crew teams were back in action at the Head of the Fish Regatta on Fish Creek. The Privateers had eight entries at the event and recorded a pair of top-four finishes as the novice fours for both the men's and women's teams led the way for Maritime.

In the morning session, the women's novice four highlighted the session for the Privateers as the team recorded a third place finish with a time of 16:02.8. The boat featured freshmen
Haleigh Sammons (Fort Plain, N.Y./Fort Plain),
Gabriella Franco (East Setauket, N.Y./St. Anthony's), sophomores
TinaMarie Haskell (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y./Clarkstown North) and
Anneliese Selheim (Castle Rock, Colo./East Meadow (N.Y.)) with freshman
Madison Burbol (Bellport, N.Y./Bellport) as coxswain.

The men's novice four had a successful showing at the Head of the Dish as well with a fourth place finish in a time of 12:29.7 in the afternoon session. Freshmen
John Woods (Worcester, Mass./St. John's),
Zach Woolley (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie),
Adam Durrua (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Beach), and
Declan Conway (Ephratah, N.Y./Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs) with senior
Rachel DeFroda (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) as coxswain led the team to the strong finish.

Maritime's first entry of the day came in the men's novice eight as Durrua, Woods, Conway and Woolley joined up with sophomores
Jake Taylor (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot),
Justin Fitje (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point),
Scott Smith (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Beach), and freshman
Tenzing Tharchin (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fort Hamilton) to complete the race with a time of 13:19.1 and a 16th place finish as Burbol served as coxswain for the race.

The men's team had two entries in the varsity fours as the 'A' entry tallied a time of 13:13.7 to finish in 14th position. Seniors
Corey Toscano (Union Vale, N.Y./Our Lady Of Lourdes),
Declan Albert (Danville, Ken./Canisius (N.Y.)),
Michael Kane Jr. (Lewes, Del./Salesianum), and
Liam Gagliano (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay) were aboard for the Privateers with DeFroda on as coxswain.

The second entry in the varsity fours saw junior
Quinlan McLoughlin (Valhalla, N.Y./Valhalla), senior
Jeffrey Burgess (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota Military Academy), sophomore
Alex Miller (Centreville, Va./Westfield), and junior
Trevor Belson (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) record a time of 14:29.1. Sophomore
Christopher Chilelli (Bordentown N.J./Bordentown Regional) was the coxswain.

As the day progressed to the afternoon session, the men's collegiate eights took to the water and tallied a 16th place finish with a time of 11:28.9. Toscano, Albert, McLoughlin, Burgess, Miller Gagliano, Kane, and Belson all competed with Chilelli serving as coxswain once again.

The women's novice eight featured Sammons, Franco, Selheim and Haskell with freshmen
Jennifer Buchner (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River),
Elizabeth Payne (Cape May, N.J./Cape May Technical),
Arina Suprunova (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) and Gabrielle Lindstrom joined up to finish with a 14:42.7, which was good enough for 25th place. Burbol was coxswain for the race.

Finally, the last event of the weekend for the Privateers came in the form of the mixed eight, which featured members of both the men's and women's crew teams. Sammons, Franco, Haskell and Selheim raced for the women, while Woods, Woolley, Durrua, and Conway represented the men. DeFroda served as coxswain as she guided the eight freshmen to a time of 12:25.0, which was good enough for ninth place in the event.

The season continues this coming Saturday, when the Privateers compete in the Head of the Occoquan on the Occoquan Reservoir in Fairfax Station, Va.
