BOSTON, Mass. – The Maritime men's rowing team was back in action this past weekend on the Charles River in Boston. The Privateers had a pair of entries in the men's club fours and the men's collegiate fours at the 52nd Annual Head of the Charles Regatta.
 
On Saturday, the men's club fours took to the water in the early afternoon. The field featured 49 entries including numerous college and club teams. The Privateers took 44th position in the competitive field and finished with a time of 20:19.114.
 
Junior Quinlan McLoughlin (Valhalla, N.Y./Valhalla) sat fourth seat, while freshman Zach Woolley (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Poughkeepsie) sat third, senior Jeffrey Burgess (Sarasota, Fla./Sarasota Military Academy) and junior Trevor Belson (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) rounded out the quartet with sophomore Christopher Chilelli (Bordentown N.J./Bordentown Regional) serving as coxswain for the team.
 
As the two-day event progressed to Sunday, the second Privateer entry was featured in the 44th event of the weekend as Maritime took part in the men's collegiate fours.
 
Maritime fared better against the collegiate competition as the team finished 38th of 44 entries in the event. The Privateers clocked in with a time of 20:00.584 just three seconds off from the University of Oregon in 37th position.
 
Aboard for the Privateers were seniors Corey Toscano (Union Vale, N.Y./Our Lady Of Lourdes), Declan Albert (Danville, Ken./Canisius (N.Y.)), and Liam Gagliano (Oyster Bay, N.Y./Oyster Bay), along with freshman John Woods (Worcester, Mass./St. John's). Senior Rachel DeFroda (Wilmington, Del./Delaware Military Academy) served as the coxswain and guided the Privateers to its finish ahead of six teams.
 
Maritime will be back in action this weekend, while the women's team will also rejoin them at the Head of the Fish Regatta on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
