THROGGS NECK, N.Y. - In conjunction with October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Maritime volleyball team has announced that it will hold its annual "Dig Pink" fundraiser matches in the coming weeks.
The matches will be held on Tuesday, October 18 against Brooklyn at 7:00 p.m.; Thursday, October 20 vs. King's (N.Y.) at 7:30 p.m.; and Friday, October 28 against John Jay at 7:00 p.m.
The Privateers are currently accepting donations for their "Dig Pink" initiative and encourage fans to visit their online fundraiser page,
https://giving.side-out.org/campaigns/12246. All funds raised will be donated to The Side-Out Foundation and applied toward a clinical trial specifically for patients with metastatic breast cancer, the most advanced form of the disease and the least funded area of research.
At the matches, the team in conjunction with the Maritime Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be on hand in the second floor lobby and selling pink lemonade, hand-made bracelets, t-shirts, and other items while also accepting cash donations for the "Dig Pink" initiative.
