Box Score JAMAICA, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2014) – The Maritime women's volleyball team won its fifth match of the season on Wednesday night in Queens, 3-2, over York College to match the program's highest win total since the 2006 season, when the Privateers finished 5-16.
The back-and-forth affair saw Maritime win the first set, 25-16, before dropping the second, 23-25, rebounding to win the third, 25-9, losing the fourth, 14-25, and eventually taking the tie-breaking fifth set, 15-11. The Privateers improve to 5-6 overall on the season, while York falls to 1-11.
Senior
Christine McCormack (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) and freshman
Carly Lombardo (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) both recorded double-doubles, as McCormack had 14 assists and 12 digs and Lombardo contributed 12 assists and 12 digs. Lombardo was just two kills shy of a triple-double, as she had eight kills in the match. Freshman

Gabrielle Kempski (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) wasn't far behind with 10. Senior libero
Sydney Carella (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) picked up a team-high 19 digs and three service aces.
For York, senior Stayce Kay Muirhead had 10 kills, while junior Kiranjeet Kaur led all players with 18 assists and sophomore Shauncia McClendon had a match-high 20 digs.
Maritime returns to action next Wednesday, Oct. 1, for a home match against King's College of New York. First serve is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium.
