BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Oct. 9, 2014) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost a non-conference contest at Brooklyn College on Thursday night in straight sets. The first two sets were decided by just two points, as the Bulldogs won 26-24 in the first and 27-25 in the second. Brooklyn took the third set 25-11 to win the match and improve to 8-15 overall on the season, while the Privateers fall to 6-8.

        Freshman phenom
Shannon Brady (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) recorded her third 20-kill match of the season, finishing the night with exactly 20 kills to lead all players. She also picked up 12 digs for her third double-double of the year. Sophomore
Carly Lombardo (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) ended the night with 14 assists and nine digs, while senior
Christine McCormack (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) lent a hand with 10 helpers. Senior libero
Sydney Carella (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) recorded a match-high 16 digs.

        For Brooklyn, sophomore Francesca LoCascio led the squad with eight kills and 13 digs, while freshman setter Jessica Yin recorded a match-high 24 assists. Senior Fanny Ng also picked up double-digit digs with 12.

        Maritime returns to action on Saturday morning, Oct. 11, for a Skyline Conference Tri-Match hosted by Mount St. Mary College up in Newburgh, N.Y. The first match of the day is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will feature the Privateers taking on the host Knights, before Maritime is set to square off against St. Joseph's College at 1 p.m. Live stats will be available by
