Box Score 2 FARMINGDALE, N.Y. – The Maritime Women's Volleyball team split a pair of Skyline Conference matchups at Nold Hall in Farmingdale on Saturday afternoon. The Privateers won their second match of the day, knocking off Sarah Lawrence by the scores of 25-7, 25-13, and 25-16. Maritime dropped its first match of the day to host Farmingdale by the scores of 27-25, 25-17, and 25-15.

The first match saw freshman
Shannon Brady (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) lead the team with 10 kills to go along with six digs. Sophomore
Carly Lombardo (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) and freshman
Gabrielle Kempski (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) were second on the team with four kills apiece, while Lombardo also led the team with 9 assists on the afternoon.

Kempski was second for the Privateers with seven digs, three behind team leader and senior
Sydney Carella (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville), who had a match-high 10 digs on the afternoon. Maritime had four service aces on the match, with one each from Lombardo, Brady, Kempski, and Carella.

Overall the match with Farmingdale saw a total of 10 lead changes, to go along with the score being tied 14 times over the course of the match.

In the team's opener, the Privateers played a thrilling extra-session set with the host Rams as the team fell by the score of 27-25. After falling behind 2-0 in the opening set, Maritime regained a point and a possession with a service error by Farmingdale.

The Privateers rattled off a 5-2 run over the next series as Brady collected a pair of kills in the process. After regaining service, the Privateers rolled off another solid run as the team outscored the Rams with another kill from Brady, and also a service ace from Kempski.

The sides rallied back-and-forth as the game was tied at 21 apiece. After falling behind by one, Maritime regained the lead on a pair of errors by the Rams. The Privateers were the first team to 25, however they were not ahead by two at the time as the set continued. The Rams rallied for the final three points of the set and took the period by a 27-25 score.

The second set was also close in the early going as Maritime scored to make the second set 9-8 after an attacking error by the Rams. Farmingdale then rolled to a 9-1 advantage and ended up taking the second set by an eight-point difference as Brady and Kempski each picked up a pair of kills in the latter stages of the set.

In the third set, Maritime and Farmingdale again were unable to take large leads in the stanza during the early going. The Rams went on a strong run to pick up the win, as the match point was decided by a service ace.
In the second match of the day, the Privateers knocked of Sarah Lawrence for the second time this season, earning wins by the scores of 25-7, 25-13, and 25-16.

Maritime (9-12, 2-4 Skyline) will get right back to action tomorrow afternoon, when the team travels to Riverdale, N.Y. for a Skyline Conference Tri-Match against Yeshiva at 1 p.m. followed by a match with the host Dolphins of Mount St. Vincent at 3 p.m. Live stats will be available for both matches on MaritimeAthletics.com.

Farmingdale (13-18, 5-4 Skyline) will not play again until Friday night, when the Rams take on Fredonia at Skidmore College at 7:30 p.m. Sarah Lawrence (2-19, 0-6 Skyline) will travel to take on New Jersey City in New Jersey on Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m.
