Box Score 2 NEWBURGH, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2014) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost both of its matches at a road Skyline tri-match hosted by Mount St. Mary earlier on Saturday. The Privateers dropped the opener against the host Knights in straight sets (25-6, 25-21, 25-15), before falling to St. Joseph's College, also in three sets (25-16, 25-15, 25-22). Maritime falls to 6-10 overall on the season, including an 0-3 mark in Skyline action.
Freshman
Gabrielle Kempski (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) led the squad with 12 kills over the two matches, while also picking up 17 digs. Classmate
Shannon Brady (Bayport, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) also had double-digit kills on the day with 11 in the two matches. Brady also recorded 23 digs. Senior
Sydney Carella (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) had a team-high 28 digs in today's action. Sophomore
Carly Lombardo (Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) and senior
Christine McCormack (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) registered 17 and 13 assists, respectively.
The Privateers return to action on Wednesday night with a road non-conference tilt against Medgar Evers College. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Cougars' Cave.
