      PHILADELPHIA (Jan. 26, 2014) – The Maritime mixed rifle team participated in the NRA Sectionals on Sunday down at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and had a great day. The Privateers picked up wins in the smallbore of the USP mixed and women's squads and Loyola University, while also defeating USP mixed and women in the air rifle discipline.

      Senior
Allison Lashmet (DeFreestville, N.Y./Columbia) broke her personal record that she set earlier in the season by shooting a 570 in the air rifle. All six of her cards were in the 90's and she shot two straight 97's on her fourth and fifth cards. She fell just two points shy of the school record of 572, which was set by former Privateer captain
Brandon Webber.

      Junior
Joseph Andricola (Blackwood, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) set his new personal best by shooting a 548 with five cards of 90 or better. Senior
Joe Holomshek (Mount Sinai, N.Y./Mount Sinai) tied his personal best with a 539 with one card of 95 and freshman
Bradley Boomhower (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) rounded out the scoring with a 518, shooting two straight 90's on cards two and three. As a team, the Privateers put up 2175 points and beat the USP mixed (2008) and women (2089).

      In smallbore, Lashmet and senior
Robert Depietri (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) both shot a team-high 530. Depietri shot an impressive score of 96 on his second card while in the prone position (lying down). The Privateers also had Andricola's personal-best 523 and Boomhower's 468 count towards the team's overall score of 2051, which beat USP mixed (2013), USP women (2014) and Loyola (1646).

      Other personal bests that were shot on the day for Maritime were by Holomshek with a 476 in the smallbore, junior
Michael Brooks (Bear, Del./Delaware Military Academy) in the air gun with a score of 511 and by classmate
Kevin Owens (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) in the smallbore with a 492.

      The Privateers are back in action this Saturday, Feb. 1, for a meeting with the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. in a contest that has no MAC Conference ramifications.
