Privateers Fall In Straight Sets To Mount St. Vincent, 3-0

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 28, 2013) – The Maritime women's volleyball team hosted cross-Bronx Mount St. Vincent Saturday morning in a Skyline Conference match and it was the visiting Dolphins that swept the action, 25-14, 25-12 and 25-8.
 
        Junior Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward (Fla.)) (Lewes, Del./West Broward) led the squad with four kills on the day and matched the team-high with seven digs. Classmate Sydney Carella (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) also picked up seven digs on the day.
 
        Mount St. Vincent held a big advantage in service aces in the match, as the Dolphins recorded 14 aces to the Privateers' three. Sophomore Ashleigh Scozzari led all players with 11 kills, while also tying the match-high of seven digs. Her classmate, Zana Daluz, recorded 22 assists and two blocks.
 
        The Privateers will be back in action Tuesday night, Oct. 1, when they host non-conference opponent Pratt Institute. First serve is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Riesenberg Gym.
