THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 18, 2013) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost its Skyline Conference opener Wednesday night at Farmingdale State, 3-0 (25-14, 25-9, 25-12). The Privateers fall to 0-7 (0-1 Skyline) on the season, while the Rams improve to 2-12 (1-0 Skyline).

Christine McCormak (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) led all players with eight digs and had a team-high three assists. Junior
Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward (Fla.)) (Lewes, Del./West Broward) and freshman
Mary Camano (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) (Bronx, N.Y./Harry S. Truman) led Maritime with two kills apiece. Acklin and freshman
Ayden Johnson (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Manlius Pebble Hill) both recorded five digs apiece.

      For the Rams, three players tied for the match-high five kills, Nicky Young, Barbara Wright and Maia Calde-Hinton. Sarah Palladino registered 14 assists to lead all players and Calde-Hinton had three blocks.

      The Privateers return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they travel to Bronxville, N.Y. to take part in the Sarah Lawrence Tournament. Maritime will face New Jersey City University and hosts Sarah Lawrence on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
