THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 16, 2013) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost all four of its matches at the Fourth Annual Maritime Classic, hosted by Maine Maritime up in Castine, Maine over the weekend. The Privateers did land a player on the All-Tournament team in junior
Christine McCormak (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen), and in turn, McCormak was also named to the Skyline women's volleyball weekly honor roll.
McCormak registered a team-high 22 assists over five matches last week. She also had 13 digs, six service aces and two kills. Junior
Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward (Fla.)) (Lewes, Del./West Broward) was the team's leading hitter with 18 kills at the Maritime Classic and she also had a team-high 27 digs, while freshman
Alyssa Esposito (Farmingdale, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) (Farmingdale, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) picked up 16 digs over the four matches.
While up in Maine for the weekend, the Privateers were invited to attend a banquet Saturday night in which all three teams gathered for a meal and to meet and greet the other teams. All three teams were addressed by the President of Maine Maritime. It was a good opportunity for the team to mingle with fellow future mariners.

The Privateers return to action this Wednesday night, Sept. 18, when they open Skyline Conference play against Farmingdale State. First serve will be at 7 p.m. at the Lynch Sports Center.
