Martinez and Myers Named To Skyline Baseball Honor Roll

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (April 15, 2013) – Maritime seniors Ed Martinez (Yonkers, N.Y./Stepinac) (Yonkers, N.Y./Stepinac) and Christopher Myers (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) were named to the Skyline Conference Baseball Honor Roll for their play in last week's games, as announced on Monday by Skyline Assistant Commissioner Steve Haug.
 
        Last week Martinez hit .455 with two walks and two steals over three games. Myers threw a complete game victory against Old Westbury on Sunday only giving up three hits and an unearned run.  
 
         For the year, Martinez is hitting .229, with two homeruns, has an on-base of .357, and has driven in 16 runs which is tied for the lead on the team. Myers is 2-4  with a 4.24 ERA and has hurled 40.1 innings which leads the team.
 
        Some other Privateers are amongst the leaders in offensive and pitching statistics in the Skyline Conference. Sophomore Albert Doerbecker (Point Lookout, N.Y./Long Beach) (Point Lookout, N.Y./Long Beach) is 13th in the conference with a .350 batting average and is seventh in on-base (.448). Junior Nick Galli (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By the Sea) is 14th in the conference in batting average with a .338 mark. Martinez leads the conference in walks with 19. Myers is sixth in the conference in strikeouts with 30. Junior Kurt Niemeyer (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior) (Nanuet, N.Y./Nanuet Senior) is right behind him in eighth place with 28 strikeouts and is seventh in opponent's batting average with a .229 posting.

        Maritime returns to action Wednesday night when they play the NYU-Poly Blue Jays. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Reinhart Field but is a home game for the Blue Jays.
