THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Nov. 25, 2013) – The Maritime hockey team defeated two non-conference opponents on the road this weekend, handling Suffolk Community College, 4-2, on Saturday night before travelling to Pennsylvania on Sunday and beating East Stroudsburg, 5-3. The Privateers improve to 6-3-2 overall on the season.

        On Saturday in Dix Hills, N.Y., senior
Nick Galli (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By the Sea) scored all four goals for Maritime. The first two were unassisted and tied the game up at 1-1 and 2-2. He gave the Privateers their first lead of the game with 7:01 to play in the third period on a goal that was assisted by sophomore
KJ Paseka (Weston, Fla./Northfield-Mount Hermon). Galli added an empty-netter to seal the victory. Sophomore
Connor Graham (Midlothian, Texas/Midlothian Senior) (Midlothian, Texas/Midlothian Senior) earned the victory in net for Maritime.

        On Sunday, the Privateers jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first period on tallies by seniors
Steven Altini (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By the Sea) and
Dillon Dolansky (Monroe, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic) (Monroe, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic). Junior
Tanner McWain (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) () added an assist on Altini's goal and freshman
Thomas Altini (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By the Sea) (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph By the Sea) chipped in on Dolansky's.

        By the end of the second period, the score was tied, 3-3. East Stroudsburg scored the first goal of the stanza, before Paseka lit the lamp while the Privateers were shorthanded (assisted by McWain). However, back-to-back power play goals by the Warriors tied the score up.

        In the third, junior
Thomas Kirby (Rockaway Park, N.Y./Xaverian) scored what would turn out to be the game-winner under a minute into the action. Senior
Jeff Dolan (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary's) (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary's) helped to set the goal up. Dolan then added an insurance goal with 5:28 remaining, assisted by Paseka. Graham earned his second straight victory in net, making 30 saves in the game.

        Maritime will be off this Thanksgiving Weekend and will return to action on Saturday, Dec. 7, with a road game in Bryn Athyn, Pa. against Bryn Athyn College. Faceoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Lions' Jungé Ice Rink. On Sunday of that weekend, Dec. 8, the Privateers will return home to Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford, Conn., to take on Empire College Hockey Conference opponent Southern Connecticut College at 3:30 p.m.
