Volleyball Falls To John Jay In Straight Sets On Senior Night

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2013) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost to visiting John Jay, 3-0, Tuesday night at Riesenberg Gym. The scores of the match were 25-12, 25-18 and 25-18. The Privateers fall to 2-24 on the season, while the Bloodhounds improve to 5-17.
 
        Before the game, the team paid tribute to lone senior, libero Alyssa Pourmonir (Pittston, Pa./Pittston Area ) (Pittston, Pa./Pittston Area), with a special Senior Night Ceremony. For the photo gallery from the Senior Night Ceremony, click here.
 
        Pourmonir had a fantastic match on the court as well, leading all players with 30 digs. Junior Christine McCormak (Goshen, N.Y./Goshen) led the Privateers with nine assists and also picked up 14 digs. Junior Charlotte Acklin (Lewes, Del./West Broward (Fla.)) (Lewes, Del./West Broward) had a team-high four kills.
 
        The Privateers return to action on Friday night, Oct. 25, when they travel to the Keystone State to take on King's College of Pa. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Monarchs' Scandlon Gym.
