1/25/2013 3:22:00 PM

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Jan. 25, 2013) – The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) released the third regional ranking (through games on Jan.20) on Friday morning and Maritime has moved up one spot to seventh. The Privateers were ranked eighth in both of the previous rankings earlier this season.

This comes after a weekend where Maritime (16-2, 10-0 MCHC) defeated strong regional opponent Kings Point on Friday night, but saw its 15-game winning streak come to an end on the road on Sunday to the second-ranked team in the region, Farmingdale St. The squad captured 50 votes to land just behind sixth-ranked Nuemann University (43) and ahead of eighth-ranked Pittsburgh-Johnstown (54).

Action will start Friday night at 9 p.m., when Maritime will travel to Bridgeport, Conn., to take on tenth-ranked Southern Connecticut St. at the Wonderland of Ice. The Privateers will then host MCHC opponent Stevens at the Parkwood Sports Complex in Great Neck, N.Y. on Saturday at 9:15 p.m. and will finish play this weekend on Sunday at 8 p.m. at ninth-ranked Fairfield University at the Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton, Conn.
