Volleyball Falls To York College On The Road, 3-0

        JAMAICA, N.Y. (Sept. 27, 2012) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost to York Thursday night in straight sets Thursday night at the Cardinals' York College Gym. The Privateers kept the scores of the sets close, losing by no more than eight points in each of the three sets. The scores were 25-17, 25-17 and 25-20. Maritime falls to 0-12 with the loss, while York improves to 4-13.
 
        Sophomore Tessa Jardine (Valley Stream, N.Y./Waterford) (Valley Stream, N.Y./Waterford) led the team with six kills and five digs, while junior Alyssa Pourmonir (Pittston, Pa./Pittston Area ) (Pittston, Pa./Pittston Area) picked up eight assists. Senior Jerrica Romero (Bronx, N.Y./Herbert H Lehman) (Bronx, N.Y./Lehman) finished the match with two kills and three digs.
 
        The Cardinals were led by junior Sharon Fordyce, who recorded a match-high eight kills. Freshman Allison Li led all players with nine digs and junior Evelyn Florentino registered nine assists.
 
        Maritime is back in action next Saturday, Oct. 6, when the Privateers travel up to the state's capital, Albany, to take part in a Skyline Tri-Match hosted by Sage. First match is scheduled for 11 a.m. against the host Gators, followed by a 1 p.m. meeting with NYU-Poly.
