Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Match At Sarah Lawrence

        BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (Sept. 18, 2012) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost to Sarah Lawrence College in straight sets Tuesday night at the Gryphons' Campbell Sports Center, dropping the Privateers to 0-8 on the season.
 
        Sophomore Tessa Jardine (Valley Stream, N.Y./Waterford) (Valley Stream, N.Y./Waterford) was the squad's leading hitter with seven kills on a .375 hitting percentage, while senior Jerrica Romero (Bronx, N.Y./Herbert H Lehman) (Bronx, N.Y./Lehman) was close behind with six kills. Romero also led all players in the match with 13 digs. Junior-transfer Alyssa Pourmonir (Pittston, Pa./Pittston Area ) (Pittston, Pa./Pittston Area) recorded a team-high 10 assists.
 
        Sarah Lawrence was led by freshman Zoë Spanbroek, who had a match-high 13 kills, while senior Brooklynn Moore picked up 18 assists.
 
        Maritime returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 22, when the squad opens Skyline Conference action at a Farmingdale St. Tri-Match. The Privateers are scheduled to take on Farmingdale St. at 10 a.m. and then Old Westbury at noon at the Rams' Lynch Sports Center.
