Hockey Playoff Preview: #3-Seed Privateers Take On #2 Fordham Saturday

2/17/2012 6:11:00 PM

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Feb. 17, 2012) – The third-seeded Maritime hockey team will face-off against the #2-seed Fordham Rams in the 2012 Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference (MCHC) semifinals on Saturday, Feb. 18 at the AmeriHealth Pavilion in Newark, N.J. The puck drops in this single game elimination at 7 p.m.

Inside The Series
Since the 2008-09 season, Fordham has held the edge in victories over the Privateers. Maritime has just one win in their seven games against the Rams, which came last season on Oct. 16 at home, a 3-1 decision.

During the 2011-12 season, the Privateers faced Fordham twice, losing both games by a score of 5-1 and 6-4. Maritime must plant that seed of doubt in the heads of the high scoring Rams early in the game if they will have a chance to move on. Comparing both teams' rosters, the Privateers have the edge in size and can use this to their advantage in an attempt to shut down the Rams.

The winner of Saturday's game will go on to face the winner of the C.C.M./Stevens semifinals matchup for the MCHC championship, which is set for Sunday, Feb. 19 at the AmeriHealth Pavilion at 5.pm.
