        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Dec. 10, 2012) – The Maritime hockey team won both of its games this past weekend, defeating #2 regionally ranked Farmingdale St., 3-2 in overtime, at home on Friday night in what fourth-year head coach Matt Garofalow called “the biggest win in program history,” before downing MCHC-foe Stevens, 19-7, on Sunday on the road. The Privateers are still riding a two-month long 13-game winning streak and boast a 14-1 overall record, including a 13-0 mark in Met Hockey action.
 
        Maritime fell behind the Rams early Friday night at the Parkwood Sports Complex, as FSC's Mike Leprine scored a power play goal just over five minutes into the game. The Privateers responded in the second period with two breakaway goals by sophomore Tanner McWain (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), assisted by classmate Vinny Monfredo (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) (Shirley, N.Y./William Floyd) and a shorthanded tally by Monfredo, assisted by McWain, later in the period. In the third, Farmingdale found the game-tying goal on a wrap-around by Joe Mione with just under six minutes to play.
 
        Junior Ross Freund (Westbury, N.Y./Chaminade) (Westbury, N.Y./Chaminade) scored the game-winner just 27 seconds into overtime off assists by Monfredo and junior Dillon Dolansky (Monroe, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic) (Monroe, N.Y./Burke Catholic). In goal, sophomore Harris Burger (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) earned the victory with 28 saves.
 
        On Sunday against Stevens at the AmeriHealth Pavilion in Newark, N.J., freshmen Jake Rostek (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) and Billy Kelly (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) and Monfredo each recorded a game-high five points apiece. Rostek had four goals and one assist, Kelly scored twice and added three assists and Monfredo lit the lamp once and had four helpers. In total, 12 players registered at least one point in the victory. Freshman goalie Connor Graham (Midlothian, Texas/Midlothian Senior) (Midlothian, Texas/Midlothian Senior) made 24 saves to earn the win.
 
        The Privateers will take the winter break off and return to the rink on Friday night, Jan. 18, 2013, for a matchup with MCHC-opponent and arch-rival Kings Point. Game time is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. at the Parkwood Sports Complex. They'll continue play that weekend at home against County College of Morris on Saturday, Jan. 19, at 9:15 p.m. at Parkwood and an away game at Farmingdale St. on Sunday, Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Freeport Recreation Center in Freeport, Long Island, N.Y.
