THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Nov. 9, 2012) – The first American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) regional rankings were released on Friday and the Privateer hockey team ranked eighth in the Atlantic Division.  This is the first ever ranking in the history of the program here at Maritime. The rankings are compiled by the regional ranking committee and submitted to the ACHA office.

The Privateers are off to a hot start so far in the 2012-13 season, boasting a 6-1 record and are currently riding a five-game winning streak. Maritime is also 3-0 in Met Hockey Conference action. The last victory came against Southern Connecticut State, the team that finished the 2011-12 season ranked first in the Atlantic Region. SoConn is ranked 13th in this latest ranking. Conference opponent Fordham as well as non-conference Albany are receiving votes, while future opponent Fairfield is ranked 11th in the region.

The puck drops at 9:10 p.m. The game was originally scheduled as a home game for STAC, but switched to a home game for Maritime and will cover the previously postponed game that was supposed to take place last week. A new date for the game at Saint Thomas Aquinas has yet to be scheduled. The Privateers will also play host to Suffolk tomorrow night, Nov. 10, at the Parkwood Sports Complex in Great Neck, Long Island at 9:45 p.m.

One other game that was postponed last week, the contest at Stevens, has been rescheduled for Sunday, Dec. 9, at 9 p.m. at the AmeriHealth Pavilion at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. A make-up date for the Southern Connecticut away game has yet to be determined.
