Hockey Wins Thrice Over The Weekend

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Nov. 19, 2012) – The Maritime hockey team won all three of its games this past weekend over New Paltz, Scranton and the County College of Morris. The Privateers defeated the Hawks on the road Friday night, 15-0, and followed that up with an 11-0 home win over the Royals on Saturday night. On Sunday, Maritime met the reigning MCHC Champions C.C.M. on the road and after jumping out to a 4-0 lead through a period-and-a-half, just narrowly escaped with a 4-3 victory.
 
        In the midst of a 10-game winning streak, the Privateers improve their record to 11-1 on the season, including a perfect 7-0 in Met Hockey Conference games.
 
        Two players tallied seven points to lead the team over the weekend: freshmen Billy Kelly (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) and Kelly Paseka (Weston, Fla./Northfield-Mount Hermon). Kelly recorded five goals, including a hat trick against New Paltz, while also picking up two assists. Paskea had four goals and three assists over the three games.
 
        Another two players each had six points, as senior captain Daniel Tyx (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) and his classmate and alternate captain Taylor Carsch (Hockessin, Del./AI Dupont) (Hockessin, Del./AI Dupont) both had three goals and three assists, apiece. Three players registered five points: freshman Jake Rostek (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) (4G, 1A), sophomore Vincent Pedulla (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) (2G, 3A) and senior James McManus (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) (5A).
 
        In goal, freshman Connor Graham (Midlothian, Texas/Midlothian Senior) (Midlothian, Texas/Midlothian Senior) earned the shutout victory over New Paltz on Friday with eight saves. Sophomore Harris Burger (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) won on Saturday, shutting out Scranton with 25 saves, and again on Sunday, making 20 saves against C.C.M.
 
        The Privateers will have off for nearly two weeks and will return to the rink on Saturday, Dec. 1, for a home game against Fairfield University. The puck drops at 7 p.m. at the Parkwood Sports Complex in Great Neck, Long Island, N.Y.
