A Look At The Opponents
Wesleyan finished the 2011-12 season with a 20-6 record and earned the #3 seed in the NESCAC Conference Tournament with a 7-3 conference record. The Cardinals lost to #2 Middlebury, 74-52, in the NESCAC Semifinals. These two teams last met during the 1998-99 season on Jan. 6, 1999 in Throggs Neck. Wesleyan came out on top, 65-61.
Daniel Webster is 0-1 thus far in 2012-13, losing to Rivier College, 68-62, in the season-opener on Thursday. The Eagles compiled a 9-16 record last year and were 8-8 in the NECC. They earned the #4 seed in the conference tournament, but lost to #5 Newbury, 65-51, in the first round. Should they play each other on Saturday, it would be the first meeting between Maritime and Daniel Webster.
Anna Maria went 14-15 in 2011-12, including a 10-8 mark in GNAC action. The AMCATs made a run to the conference championship game as the #6 seed, but lost to top-seeded Albertus Magnus, 88-54. Anna Maria did receive a bid to the ECAC Tournament, but lost in the first round to Elms, 66-64. A potential game against Maritime on Saturday would be the first between the two schools.
