GREAT NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 6, 2012) – Coming off an 8-5 loss to the Junior Aviators last Sunday, the Maritime hockey team rebounded with a 6-3 victory over MCHC-foe Fordham on Saturday night at the Parkwood Sports Complex in the first conference game of the year for both teams. The Privateers move to 2-1 (1-0 MCHC) on the season, while the Rams fall to 2-3 (0-1 MCHC).
Junior
Jeff Dolan (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary's) (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary's) opened the scoring in the first period with a power play goal. Senior captain
Dan Tyx (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) provided a nice screen in front of Fordham goalie Matt Perrotta. The Rams tied the game at 1-1 at 6:42 of the second period on a power play goal, but Maritime responded just under four minutes later when Tyx lit the lamp. Freshman

Steven Vietri (Bronx, N.Y./Fortress Christian Academy) gave the Privateers a 3-1 lead with a goal from the top of the point late in the second with 17 seconds remaining. Tyx and Paseka got the assists on that goal. Fordham cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal at 10:30 of the third period, but once again, the Privateers were quick to respond with two goals just 1:23 apart by

Each team scored twice more, as the Rams tallied an even-strength goal at 5:35 and the Privateers rounded out the goals on the day when sophomore

The Privateers hit the ice again on Friday night, Oct. 12, when they travel up to Delmar, N.Y., to take on non-conference opponent Albany. The puck drops at 7 p.m. at the Bethlehem Area YMCA.
