THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 22, 2012) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost its final home match of the 2012 season to the Culinary Institute of America in straight sets Monday night at the Riesenberg Hall Gym. The scores of the match were 25-11, 25-10 and 25-18. The Privateers fall to 1-20 on the season, while the Steels improve to 8-5.
CIA was led by sophomore Corinne Williams, who had a match-high 11 kills. Their libero, Cheyenne Langis registered a team-high 10 digs, while setter Kristin McGinn had 25 assists.
Maritime senior
Jerrica Romero (Bronx, N.Y./Herbert H Lehman) (Bronx, N.Y./Lehman) and sophomore
Sydney Carella (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) each recorded a team-high five kills, apiece. Romero had five assists, while Carella picked up 10 digs. Sophomore
Tessa Jardine (Valley Stream, N.Y./Waterford) (Valley Stream, N.Y/Waterford) led all players with 17 digs.
The Privateers will close out the 2012 season on the road this coming Saturday, when they will travel up to Purchase, N.Y., to take on non-conference opponent Manhattanville. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
