THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 17, 2012) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost to visiting Sarah Lawrence College in three sets Wednesday night in a non-conference contest at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium. The scores of the sets were 25-4, 25-12 and 25-14. The Privateers fall to 1-17 on the season, while the Gryphons improve to 12-11.
Maritime was led by sophomore
Sydney Carella (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville) (Greenville, N.Y./Greenville), who recorded a team-high three kills and eight digs. Classmate
Tessa Jardine (Valley Stream, N.Y./Waterford) (Valley Stream, N.Y./Waterford) also had three kills.
For Sarah Lawrence, sophomore Kitty O'Sullivan led all players with 13 kills, while freshman Jomana Abdallah picked up a match-high 11 digs. Senior Brooklynn Moore registered 29 assists. The Gryphons also had 23 service aces on the night to help lead them to the victory.
The Privateers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 20, when they will host a Skyline Conference Tri-Match with Mount St. Vincent and St. Joseph's. First serve against the Dolphins will be 11 a.m. at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium. Then CMSV will take on St. Joe's at 1 p.m., followed by the Privateers against the Golden Eagles at 3 p.m.
