THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Jan. 12, 2012) – The Maritime hockey team will have their hands full this weekend with back-to-back home games against C.C.M. and NJIT. The puck drops against Met Hockey Conference opponent County College of Morris on Saturday, Jan. 14, at 9 p.m. at the Parkwood Ice Rink in Great Neck, N.Y. The Privateers are then back at it Sunday night at 9:15 p.m. at the state-of-the-art World Ice Arena in Flushing, N.Y., against NJIT.
 
Inside The Series
        C.C.M. has the edge with three wins to the Privateers' two. The last time these two conference teams met was on Thanksgiving weekend, with Maritime coming out on top with a 3-2 overtime road win in Morristown, N.J.

        Having dropped the season opener on the road to the NJIT Highlanders in a high scoring 8-6 affair, the Privateers will be looking to cut the series deficit to 4-3 Sunday night at home. NJIT came back to score three straight goals on two separate occasions in what was a rollercoaster of a game. Senior Daniel Tyx (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) registered two goals and two assists in the losing effort, while freshman goalie Harris Burger (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) made 20 saves. Junior Michael Lipinski made 21 saves for the victory for NJIT.
