THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Feb. 19, 2011) – The Maritime hockey team returns to the ice tonight when they face Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference (MCHC) rival Wagner in the conference semifinals. The puck is set to drop at 4 p.m. at the AmeriHealth Pavilion at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. In the other semifinal game, the Fordham Rams will face off against the CCM Titans at 1 p.m. The Privateers enter the contest as the #3 seed in the playoffs.
Inside The Series
The Privateers and Seahawks will play for the second time this season, as the squads faced each other at the WWII Veterans War Memorial Rink in Staten Island, N.Y. on Nov. 21, 2010. In that matchup, Maritime came out on top, 6-5 in overtime, in a game that saw junior Daniel Tyx (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) score the winning goal. Previous to that game Wagner was undefeated.
