Game Day: Hockey’s Final Tune-Up Before Playoffs Against St. Thomas Tonight

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Feb. 11, 2011) – The Maritime hockey team returns to the ice tonight when the squad travels to face Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference foe St. Thomas Aquinas at the Palisades Mall Arena. The puck is set to drop at 7:15 p.m. The Privateers enter the contest having won nine of their last ten games. Maritime has already secured a spot in the MCHC playoffs, which begin on Saturday, Feb. 19.

Inside The Series

This will be the second meeting between the Privateers and the Spartans this season. The teams met two weeks ago, on Jan. 29, 2011, where Maritime came out on top 6-2 at the Parkwood Sports Complex. In that game, Maritime was led by freshman Jeff Dolan (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary's) (Floral Park, N.Y./Saint Mary's) with two points. The Privateers had six different players score a goal and nine different players contribute with at least one point.

During the 2009-10 season, St. Thomas won both meetings. On Oct. 31, 2009, the Spartans came out on top when they visited Maritime, 4-1. Maritime also lost the game played at the Palisades Mall Arena, 7-6, on Feb. 12, 2010.
