Privateers Fall To Coast Guard, 88-70, In Camel/Cadet Classic Consolation Game

        NEW LONDON, Conn. (Dec. 3, 2011) – The Maritime men's basketball team wrapped up play in the Citizen's Bank Camel/Cadet Classic with an 88-70 loss to Coast Guard Saturday night at the Bears' Merriman Gym. In defeat, the Privateers fall to 1-6, while the USCGA improves to 5-2.
 
        Continuing his stellar play of late, grad student Sam Porte (Harlem, N.Y./H.S. for Math, Science & Engineering) (Harlem, N.Y./Math, Sci. & Engin.) led all players with 29 points and rounded out a double-double performance with a game-high 12 rebounds. Senior Mike McSloy (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park) scored 13 points, while freshman Louie Louis (Bronx, N.Y./Eagle Academy) recorded 10 points.
 
        For Coast Guard, junior Greg Marshall scored a team-high 14 points, while classmate Jimmy Knudsen and sophomore Devonte Weems each registered 10 points apiece. Senior Trip Fernandes nearly recorded a double-double with nine points and a team-high eight boards.
 
        Maritime will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 6, when the Privateers play host to the Violets of New York University. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium.
