Hockey Splits Met Hockey Weekend Action

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 9, 2011) – The Maritime hockey team opened up Metropolitan Hockey Conference (MCHC) action this weekend with a game at Fordham on Friday night and at home against St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday night. The Privateers lost to the Rams, 5-1, but rebounded to defeat the Spartans, 12-2. The split moves Maritime's record to 1-3-1 on the season (1-1 MCHC).
 
        On Friday night, Fordham built up a 3-0 lead over the first two periods before the Privateers got on the scoreboard in the third on a goal by senior Jesse Wynn (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund's Prep) (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund's Prep) assisted by sophomores Steven Altini (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) and Dillon Dolansky (Monroe, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic) (Monroe, N.Y./John S. Burke Catholic). Freshman goalie Harris Burger (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) (Davie, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) made 19 saves in the losing effort.
 
        Against St. Thomas on Saturday night at the Parkwood Sports Complex, Maritime had eight different goal scorers, led by freshman Tanner McWain (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan), senior Greg Dolan (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary's) (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary's) and junior James McManus (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River), who each tallied two goals apiece. Junior D.J. Gennarelli (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) got the start in goal and made 15 saves to pick up the victory.
 
        Maritime returns to action on Friday night, Oct. 14, when they play host to Hofstra University at the Parkwood Sports Complex in Great Neck, N.Y. The puck drops at 10:15 p.m.
