THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 7, 2011) – The Maritime hockey team returns to action this weekend when the squad opens up Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference action with two games. The Privateers will take to the road to face Fordham at 10:15 p.m. Friday night at the Ice Hutch in nearby Mount Vernon, N.Y. Then on Saturday, the team will have its first home game of the season at the Parkwood Ice Complex in Great Neck, N.Y., against St. Thomas Aquinas at 9:15 p.m.

	Inside The Series
During the 2010-11 season, Maritime defeated Fordham for the first time under head coach Matt Garofalow, 3-1, early in the season, but then lost to the Rams a few weeks later by that same score. Overall, since the 2008-09 season, Fordham has a 4-1 series lead over the Privateers.

Last year, Maritime swept the two conference games against STAC by the scores of 6-2 and 11-0. The previous season, St. Thomas earned the two victories and they hold a 3-2 lead in the series thanks to a 4-3 shootout victory which opened the Privateers' 2008-09 season.
