Women’s Soccer Shut Out By Farmingdale State Tuesday Night At Reinhart Field

        THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 4, 2011) – The Maritime women's soccer lost to Farmingdale State, 9-0, Tuesday night in Skyline Conference action at Reinhart Filed. The defeat drops the Privateers to 2-9-1 overall (0-5 Skyline), while Farmingdale improves to 9-2-2 (3-0 Skyline).
 

        The Rams scored three times in the first half, as senior Katrina Cerverizzo found the back of the net twice. Maritime was unable to get a shot off in the opening half, but junior keeper Courtney Marietta (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) (Grantville, Pa./Lower Dauphin) was kept busy, as she made seven saves.
 

        In the second half, five more Farmingdale players scored, with Rebecca Richman accounting two of the goals. The Privateers did get five shots off in the second 45 minutes, two were on goal: one by junior Jorrie Trenkamp (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) (Tabernacle, N.J./Seneca) and the other by senior Kristen Saporito (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point) (Rocky Point, N.Y./Rocky Point).
 

        Marietta ended the evening with 12 saves. For the Rams, senior Amanda Maass played the first 45 minutes and was credited with the win after facing no shots on goal. She was replaced in the second half by junior Stacey Rao, who made two saves.
 

        The Privateers are back in action on Friday, Oct. 7, when they play host to the College of Staten Island of the CUNY Athletic Conference. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Reinhart Field.
