Hockey Ices SUNY New Paltz, 3-0, Friday Night

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Nov. 1, 2010) – The Maritime hockey team shut out Metropolitan Collegiate Hockey Conference opponent SUNY New Paltz, 3-0, Friday night at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The win improves the Privateers' record to 5-3 on the season.

Freshman Josh Hempel (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch) (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch) scored two goals to lead Maritime in the victory – one that coach William Ducey called a “great team effort from the drop of the puck to the final horn.” Junior Daniel Tyx (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) (Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) scored the other goal for the Privateers. Freshman goalie Zach Dietrich (Point Pleasant, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) (Point Pleasant, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) picked up the first shutout of his career.

The Privateers return to action on Friday, Nov. 5, when they travel to take on Bronx-foe Fordham at the Ice Hutch in Mount Vernon. Game time is scheduled for 10:10 p.m.
