Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Match At John Jay

NEW YORK (Oct. 5, 2010) – The Maritime women's volleyball team lost to John Jay of the CUNYAC Conference, 3-0, Tuesday night in Manhattan. The scores of the match were 25-11, 25-14, 25-15. In defeat, the Privateers fall to 0-12 overall on the season, while the Bloodhounds improve to 3-13.

Sophomore Jerrica Romero (Bronx, N.Y./Herbert H Lehman) (Bronx, N.Y.) led the team with three kills and a match-high nine digs. She also recorded a team-best two assists on the evening. Sophomores Krystal Miranda (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) and Donna Pellegrino (Valley Stream, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) (Valley Stream, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) each registered eight digs apiece for the Privateers in the losing effort.

Maritime returns to action this Sunday, Oct. 10, when they host a tri-match against Skyline opponents Purchase and Yeshiva. Game time against the Panthers is scheduled for 11 a.m., while first serve against the Maccabees will go up at 3 p.m.
