Another Galli Hat Trick Leads Hockey To 4-1 Victory Over Suffolk Friday

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 23, 2010) – Freshman phenom Nick Galli (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) recorded his second hat trick of the season and picked up an assist to lead the Maritime hockey team to a 4-1 victory over MCHC-foe Suffolk Friday night at the Parkwood Sports Complex in Great Neck, N.Y. The win improves the Privateers' record to 4-3 overall on the season.

Galli now ranks third in the country in goals scored in Division-III of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). His two game-winning goals ties him for the nation's lead, while his two shorthanded goals ranks second.

The 5-9 forward scored the game's first goal 15:29 into the opening period. Sophomore Frank Castelli (Little Neck, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) (Little Neck, N.Y./St. Francis Prep) and freshman Steven Vietri (Bronx, N.Y./Fortress Christian Academy) had assists on that goal. Suffolk scored just under three minutes later to tie the game at 1-1. Galli scored again in the second period on a power play from Castelli.

Castelli improved the Maritime lead to 3-1 with 6:23 remaining in the middle period. Galli and freshman Josh Hempel (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch) (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch) picked up the assists. Galli scored his third goal of the game shorthanded with nine seconds remaining in the game. Freshman Jeff Dolan (Floral Park, N.Y./St. Mary's) (Floral Park, N.Y./Saint Mary's) had the assist.

In goal for Maritime, freshman Zach Dietrich (Point Pleasant, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) (Point Pleasant, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) made 27 saves to pick up the victory.

The Privateers return to the ice on Friday, Oct. 29, when the team travels to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to take on MCHC-opponent SUNY New Paltz. The puck drops at 9:15 p.m. at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center.
