Volleyball Loses To Farmingdale State In Straight Sets

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 12, 2010) – The Maritime volleyball team lost to conference opponent Farmingdale State, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium. With the loss, the Privateers fall to 0-15 overall (0-6 Skyline), while the Rams improve to 8-3 (5-1 Skyline).

Sophomore Krystal Miranda (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) (Putnam Valley, N.Y./Putnam Valley) recorded a team-high nine digs and six assists. Classmate Jerrica Romero (Bronx, N.Y./Herbert H Lehman) (Bronx, N.Y./Herbert H. Lehman) led the Privateers with five kills.

The Rams were led by junior Dominique Cunningham, who registered a match-high eight kills in the win. Juniors Renee Milevoj and Jessica Zimmerman equaled Miranda's match-high nine digs.

The Maritime women's volleyball team returns to action next Tuesday, Oct. 19, when the squad plays host to Skyline-foe Old Westbury. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Riesenberg Hall Gymnasium.
