Galli’s Hat Trick Leads Hockey To 9-1 Win Over Kings Point

THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Oct. 11, 2010) – The Maritime hockey team defeated arch-rivals Kings Point, 9-1, Saturday night at the Parkwood Ice Complex in Great Neck. The win improves the Privateers' record to an even 2-2 on the season, while the Mariners open their season with a 0-1 mark.

Freshman Nick Galli (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph by the Sea) (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph's by the Sea) recorded a hat trick in the victory, scoring the first goal of the game, shorthanded, 12:11 into the game. He later added two power play goals, one in the first period and the other in the third. Linemate Josh Hempel (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch) (Katy, Texas/Cinco Ranch) added three assists in the game after playing in the Maritime football game against Castleton earlier in the day.

Junior Kyle McGrath (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield Secondary) made his first appearance as a forward and tallied a goal and an assist. The Privateers also got goals from Dylan O'Malley-Joyce (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) (Cranford, N.J./Cranford), Jesse Wynn (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund's Prep) (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Edmund's Prep), Frank Castelli (Little Neck, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.) (Little Neck, N.Y./St. Francis Prep.), Patrick Masterman (Norfolk, Va./Hargrave Military Academy) (Norfolk, Va./Hargrave Military) and Steven Altini (Staten Island, N.Y. / St. Joseph By the Sea).

In goal for Maritime, freshman Zach Dietrich (Point Pleasant, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) (Point Pleasant, N.J./Christian Brothers) made seven saves on eight shots while playing 44:13 and sophomore D.J. Gennarelli (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) (Bohemia, N.Y./Connetquot) saved all three shots he faced in 15:47.
