PURCHASE, N.Y. (Jan. 9, 2010) – Despite a season-high 24 points by senior Andre Cooper (Baltimore, Md./Southwestern), the Maritime men's basketball team fell to Skyline-opponent Purchase on the road at the Panther Pavilion Saturday afternoon, 85-72, in the first contest of the new year.

 

With the loss, the Privateers fall to 5-3 (3-2 Skyline) and the Panthers improve to 6-5 (3-3 Skyline).

 

Cooper, who also brought down six boards, led four players in double-figures for Maritime as seniors Kevin Josey (Staten Island, N.Y./Monroe Webster) and Adedokun Olanrewaju (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bishop Loughlin) both scored 12 points and junior Trevis Craig (Queens, N.Y./Springfield) contributed 11. Olanrewaju and Craig each matched the game-high with eight rebounds, while Josey led all players with four steals.

 

The Privateers return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 12, when they travel to Newburgh, N.Y. to take on the Blue Knights of Mount Saint Mary College. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Kaplan Center.
