THROGGS NECK, N.Y. (Sept. 29, 2009) – The Maritime volleyball team lost to the USMMA at Kings Point, 3-0, Tuesday night at the Riesenberg Gymnasium. With the defeat, the Privateers fall to 3-5 on the season, while the Mariners improve to 8-4 in victory.

 

Freshman Jerrica Romero led Maritime with four kills and nine digs, as three of her kills came in the third and final set. Freshman Lauren Johnson contributed with three kills, while recorded six digs. Sophomore Natalie Jackson, who was named to the Skyline Conference weekly volleyball honor roll on Monday, had a team-high seven assists and chipped in with three kills and four digs. Junior libero Natalie Warren was strong in the back row with eight digs.

 

The scores of each set were 25-6, 25-16 and 25-19.

 

The Privateers return to the court on Thursday, Oct. 1, when they travel to the West Bronx to take on Lehman College. First serve is scheduled for 5 p.m. at the lightning's APEX Center.
